Really delicious food and good service. The place is well updated and clean. In comparison, the food is a bit more than other Mexican restaurants, but you get what you pay for.
The wife and I came to Richmond from Maryland for a weekend foodie tour to celebrate our anniversary. We hadn't planned to go to Azteca but we had just hit town today and it was close to our Hotel. My wife had the spinach enchiladas and I had the ribeye tacos. The food, atmosphere and service were top notch. We start our downtown foodie tour in the morning but I thought I'd post this since we enjoyed it so much.
We went tonight and had an amazing time. Their patio is very pet friendly, our server Maria was very attentive and made sure us and our dog had water. We ordered a margarita and cheese dip, always our go to and very good. For meals my husband has the ACP and I had a taco salad. I told her it was my husbands birthday so Maria hooked us up with ice cream and an amazing show.... They all came out singing with day of the dead helmets on, so fun and such a delightful experience. If you are ever in Richmond highly recommend this spot.
First timer and compared to other Mexican restaurants I have dined at recently, this place is first rate. Ribeye tacos were excellent along with the rice and well seasoned black beans. Will definitely stop by on any return trip. Thanks for thinking about your customers! Back again... sometimes it could be a one time thing, but my first review still stands. If you want great food ... stop by and enjoy.
I just enjoyed myself, the waiter made it so much easier; he knew about the menu and explain everything to our large party. He was on top of everything!! His name is Nelson ; good man!!
The food is fantastic! We stopped here last year on vacation and couldn’t wait to come back! The wait staff is very friendly and attentive, the music makes for a great atmosphere. Highly recommend! Sorry we didn’t take photos but the presentation was beautiful. Jhay was the perfect wait person.

For the main course, the Burrito Tejano provided a harmonious blend of grilled chicken, beef, and shrimp wrapped in a flour tortilla, topped with cheese and mango sauces, and garnished with sour cream and pico de gallo. This dish offered a delightful surf-and-turf experience with a hint of sweetness. Additionally, the Burrito San Jose featured a flour tortilla filled with grilled chicken, chorizo,topped with cheese sauce, pico de gallo, and sour cream, creating a hearty and flavorful dish. Carolina, our waiter, was amazing! She made sure our dining experience was super smooth and enjoyable. She was always on time and really took care of us. Thanks Carolina, you made our time at Plaza Azteca so great! Overall, Plaza Azteca delivers a satisfying Mexican dining experience with well-prepared dishes and commendable service, making it a place worth revisiting.Highly recommended!
Food is great, staff is friendly and the menu is fairly affordable. They also have lots of options for drinks including some more creative ones. Definitely recommend!
